We are delighted to welcome you to Temple Mill Primary School which became part of the Howard Academy Trust in 2015. The continuing upward trends of end of key stage results reflects the hard work and commitment of our experienced and settled staff working in partnership with governors, pupils and parents.
We are a single form entry school with its own onsite Nursery. There are 8 classes in school, from Nursery to Year 6, we have over 200 pupils on roll from Year R to Year 6 and over 30 children access the nursery provision, either full time or part time.
We are committed to the all-round development of our pupils and this is reflected through our continuing hard work on developing and enhancing our curriculum. We also source and utilise specialist teachers to enhance our provision, such as in Spanish, music and PE.
We aim to develop happy, resilient and responsible individuals who are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We have strived to create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where every pupil is supported to achieve their best. We believe strongly in the importance of a close working relationship between home and school to aid and support pupils’ progress.

Mrs Gabriel, Mrs Terry and Mrs Ironmonger have been keeping Creative Club busy making these beautiful lanterns. The children worked very hard to decorate them – don't they look fantastic?! They'll be perfect for our Carols by Candlelight event!
On Tuesday, Lions class dressed up and had an experience day as Victorians. Children were given new names, chalk and chants to learn. Mrs Champness played the part of the strict school mistress; inspecting cleanliness of hands, teaching the rules, taking drill, making gruel, and walking about with the cane! The class played as factory workers, watched scenes from the movie Oliver, and listened to tales of a school room. Costumes intrigued children from other years and adults on school tours were entertained! Year 1s had time with Year 5s at the end of the day to share their knowledge about Charles Dickens and listen to facts about the 1800s. Well done to all.
We recently invited RDJ Reptiles to bring some animals into Year 3 so that we could continue our learning about skeletons and muscles. Jay spoke to us all about Savannah Monitors, Bearded Dragons, Chameleons, Boa Constrictors and Burmese Pythons. We had a chance to feel how snakes move their bodies and discussed how they use thousands of muscles to move themselves (humans only have about 600). After feeling their muscles and their spine, we then tried to draw what we thought a snake's skeleton may look like, before we looked at pictures on the computer to compare our ideas.
